If you don’t know who Peter Robinson is, shame on you! Canadian-based but Yorkshire born, Peter has been writing about Detective Inspector Alan Banks since 1987 when Gallows Grave first introduced the British policeman to readers. It was a resounding success, garnering Best First Novel Award from the Crime Writers of Canada and in the UK it was short-listed for the Crime Writers’ Association John Creasy Award. A heady start indeed. Since then he has gone on to win Anthony, Arthur Ellis and Edgar awards.
His books are always well-received and led Stephen King to comment: "The Alan Banks mystery-suspense novels are, simply put, the best series now on the market. In fact, this may be the best series of British novels since the novels of Patrick O'Brian. Try one and tell me I'm wrong." And Ali Karim on Playing with Fire in SHOTS: “The writing is clean and hypnotic as apart from the police procedural aspect, we are greeted with a long look into the darkness of the human mind.” Ali Karim on http://archive.shotsmag.co.uk/CRIME%20REPORTS%20REVIEWS/Playing%20with%20Fire%20REVIEW.htm
