John Fullerton
John Fullerton grew up in apartheid South Africa. He worked as a reporter at the Cape Times before joining the Morning Telegraph in Sheffield. In February 1981 he set off for Peshawar in Pakistan to cover the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan as a freelancer. During the Cold War he worked for a time as a ‘head agent’ on contract to the Secret Intelligence Service, also known as MI6, and this forms the basis of his next novel, ‘Enemies’. He later joined Reuters in Hong Kong and worked as a correspondent and editor for 20 years in 40 countries and covered a dozen wars. He was bureau chief in Beirut and Cairo and worked as Middle East diplomatic correspondent based in Nicosia. Fullerton has an MA in Buddhist Studies and is the author of several novels and one work of non-fiction. He lives in Scotland.
