It’s New York in the grip of an arctic winter. An off-duty FBI agent is killed by a sniper who pulls off a seemingly impossible shot. This is the first in a series of killings of law enforcement officers across the frozen city.

Against his better judgement brilliant scientist Lucas Page is drawn into the investigation. The bureau want access to his unique ability to read a crime scene; he is still scarred by his years spent working for the G-Men.

This is a page turning thrill ride of a novel that touches on some of the discontents of modern America. These include politicians who want the world to become how they imagine it to be with a culture of gun ownership and a media that never lets the facts get in the way of a good story.

In Lucas Page, author Robert Pobi has created a central character that fascinates and frustrates in equal measure. A gifted misanthrope who is at the same time a committed family man; Sherlock meets Mr Rogers in the city that never sleeps.

Author Pobi and Character Page are even on the strength of this first outing shaping up to be the new dream team for fans of high concept thrillers. It can only be a matter of time too before Netflix make Mr Pobi an offer he can’t refuse, this is a series that has all the ingredients to run and run.
