What starts out as a normal day for Jem, a yoga instructor living in the suburbs of New York, turns out to be the most horrific 24 hours of her life.

Imagine an unexpected visit from two FBI agents one morning? They inform you that your husband is not who you thought he was. What would you do? Already anxious and on the edge, Jem decides to run away from them. She doesn’t know who to trust throughout her search for the truth. Is Leo really involved in criminal activities? Why does she have to play hide and seek with the authorities? Each chapter starts with the current time, giving us a sense of urgency. The reader feels like everything is happening in real time. I really liked this: it made the story quick-paced and full of suspense and tension.

Jem’s inner turmoil and anxiety issues are described very realistically by the author. He gives an insight into the mind of a person full of angst and fear. However, my favourite character is Rusty. She is the harsh, no-nonsense, coffee connoisseur chief of police who is not afraid of a challenge. I like her bluntness and sarcasm.

This book is cleverly plotted and action-filled.  There are chases, light-hearted conversations, secrets and questions to keep you entertained. The ending definitely contained the biggest surprise of all.

I won’t give anything away; you just have to find out for yourself!
